All About the

Harbor Arts Fair…

This show is a well-attended, long-standing community event in Camden, Maine that dates back to the early 1980's! It is held on the National Historic Landmark grounds of the Camden Public Library.

The Harbor Arts Fair takes place in both July and October. Each is a 2 day celebration of art in the heart of Midcoast Maine featuring live music, the Library’s used book sale, and a community art project. This year’s project invites attendees to create and share their own works of art in the form of a postcard that can be mailed to a loved one directly from the fair.

The history of the Harbor Arts Fair extends back to at least 1983, when it was started by Camden resident and noted watercolor artist, Carol Sebold, who passed away in 2010. Her daughter Robin Sebold says she still attends the Harbor Arts Fair every year.

"My mom was such a community oriented person. She sold at galleries, but talking to the people that wanted to buy her work really drove her. She was so friendly and outgoing."

Carolyn Brown, retiring art teacher at Camden Hills Regional High School was mentored by Carol Sebold when she was in high school and remembers,

"Carol was a huge believer in arts as an integral part of a vibrant community-- she used to paint sets for the Camden Civic Theatre.”

The Harbor Arts Fair is proof of Carol Sebold’s lasting legacy which continues to inspire and uplift the community today.
